Beyond Gaming - ASTRAEOS (PvP)
BG's Semi-Primitive PvP map with ORP.
Our very own SuperBro5000 hit me up with this idea and offered to sponsor this addition to the BG Cluster. The idea piqued my interest with it's unique twist and I decided to go ahead and move forward with it to see how it plays out.
We're hoping this map may bridge the gap between PvE and PvP and therefore help encourage some PvE-ers to dip their feet in.
Astraeos

Astraeos is a 264km Greek-Themed modded map from Mod Developer Nekatus (developer of Svartlfheim, Fjordur, Valguero, etc.). The map already feels massive and it is advertised as only 30% completed.
The map has become an Official DLC which requires a purchase to play.
Now onto the unique characteristics of this map:
Rules
Same rules as normal but with one additional:
Maximum of two (2) bases per tribe allowed on this map.
Transfers
Item downloads are blocked.
This is due to the map’s semi-primitive theme. If downloads were open, people would be able to bypass the system and bring in restricted items like tek and turrets, etc.
Dino transfers are open, but you must use the upload/download method as a cryopodded dino counts as an item.
Dino and item uploads are enabled normally.
ORP
This map has Offline Raid Protection (ORP) 7 days a week. You can only be raided while online. Hopefully this will encourage some PvE-ers to give it a try.
Semi-Primitive
*This map has certain engrams disabled to keep within the theme of the map, however, some are still being left on for QoL. Don't think of this map as full on Prim+, but it is inspired by it.
Auto/Heavy/Tek turrets & Tesla Coils - Disabled
Tek tier - Mostly Disabled; only Transmitters, reps, generators, troughs, dedi storage, and sleeping pods are allowed.
Explosives (Rockets, C4, etc.) - Disabled (grenades are available)
Firearms - Anything above primitive is Disabled. (Prim shotgun is okay, pump-action is not).
Metal & Industrial - still Enabled.
Mining Drill - Disabled.
Craftable Element - Enabled. Same recipe as on Scorched Earth.
Rates:
Breeding - Same
Harvesting - 8x, 16x with donation boost (Doubled from BG standard).
Taming - 6x, 12x with donation boost (Doubled from BG standard).
Drops:
Not yet modified. Modifying loot drops on a modded map takes a little more research on my end before I can deploy the changes. Same goes for custom dino spawns and boss fight drops.
Additional Mods:
Any assets related to this mod must **not** be transferred off this map! The other maps do not have this mod, so the items/creatures transferred off will simply go poof. The dragons stay here!
Astraeos FAQs
Why does the map have ORP?
To encourage PvE'ers to give PvP a try but feel a little more secure with a chance to defend.
Why is harvesting and taming doubled from the usual BG rates?
Item Downloads will always remain disabled. Due to the map losing the benefit from outside map support, this boost was chosen to help compensate.
Why will Item Downloads always remain disabled?
This map will inherently be tougher to raid on due to the ORP perk. You know how PvE has a one-way transfer to avoid people raiding on PvP and taking the loot back to PvE where it can never be recovered? Same principle. We dont want people getting raided on the other PvP maps, then having their loot transferred to Astraeos where it is now more difficult to recover due to ORP.
Will there be purge weekends where ORP is lifted?
Not anticipated at this time.
Why is the map "Semi-Primitive"?
It sounds like a fun twist on things and I think it will be fun to break the mold and try something a little different on BG! It feels like it fits with the ancient-Greek theme Nekatus has going on. I'm eager to see what the new PvP metas become. I'm anticipating cannons, grenades, and paracers for raiding while compound bows and maybe ballista turrets become popular with defending. Also, when Extinction drops, I do **not** plan to block Velos, which can become the new turrets for this map.
Can I buy stuff from the Admin Shop for this map?
Yes, but not for 30 days from launch. (Limitation ends 01/02/2025)
Thanks for sponsoring this fun new addition to BG SuperBro5000!
